Sales Manager – Steve Smith

Sales Manager Steve Smith joined Shurlock Row Garage in March 2008. Having been in the motor industry since 1997, Steve comes from a Ford background, joining the sales team at Gowrings Ford in Newbury in 1997. Two years later, Steve was promoted to Finance Business Manager at their branch in Bracknell and assisted people with the purchasing of their new and used cars from the dealerships and built up a good relationship with the customers.

In 2002 Gowrings were taken over by Inchcape and Steve became disallusioned with the process that the new company had installed and along with fellow colleague Norman Rossiter, who had been in Sales, formed their own company, Auto-Options Ltd and started trading in February 2003.

Steve remained as co-director of the company until June 2006 when he decided to become self-employed and leave Auto-Options and trade from home selling ex-lease cars to customers on the internet via Autotrader and eBay. Alongside this business, Steve had built up a small clientelle of motor traders who wanted web sites and designed them for each trader.

Steve has now created the new Shurlock Row Garage web site and it takes the garage to the next level with social media integration using Twitter, YouTube and soon to be added,Facebook. Steve also does the filming of the cars and edits them too, so with the day to day running of the garage and keeping the web site up to date, he’s kept busy.
